Prescription drugs addiction treatment Thailand

In Northern Thailand lies the Orchid, a luxury rehab in Chiang Mai. At our treatment centre, we address the various aspects of addiction and help our guests on the path to sobriety.
Why People Abuse Prescription Medication
The root causes of addiction can often be complicated. It’s not simply saying ‘no’ or just stopping. There are various factors at play, including a person’s genetics. It’s not unusual for a person with an addiction to have a family history of substance misuse. Like any other disease, addiction can be passed down genetically.
Prescription drug misuse can be even more complicated. For example, with prescription opioids, a person may have pain that needs to be managed. When the prescription runs out, a person has become dependent on them and needs them to function properly. As such, the underlying condition has to be addressed to address the substance use disorder comprehensively.
Prescription Drug Addiction Treatment in Thailand
Treatment for prescription drug abuse begins with detox. We can help with this part of the treatment at our centre in Chiang Mai. However, there are times when a person’s withdrawal symptoms may become complex. In such situations, we can refer our guests to the National Hospital for detox, which is roughly 30 minutes away from our treatment centre. As many types of prescription drug use begin with a legitimate need for the drug, treatment programmes will account for the underlying condition behind the use of the addictive substance in the first place.
We offer a variety of treatment options to help people with various forms of prescription drug misuse. However, we will make sure that our treatment can address any co-occurring conditions. Additionally, when a person finishes their residential treatment, we provide 2 months of aftercare, which can be extended if a patient needs more time. In addition to individual, group, and behavioural therapies, our treatment plans will generally include Thai boxing, yoga, and swimming. These can help make inpatient drug rehabilitation more enjoyable.
Why Choose Prescription Drug Rehab in Thailand?
There are numerous reasons to come to Thailand for the treatment of prescription drug misuse. Some of these reasons include:
Cost-Efficiency
Many inpatient treatment centres in Australia charge high prices for their addiction or mental health support services. By seeking effective treatment in Thailand, a person can receive the same standard of care for a fraction of the price.
Accepts Everyone
Variable Treatment Lengths
An addiction treatment programme is tailored to the needs of the recipient, and not everyone will have the same needs. To make sure we help as many people as possible, our residential treatment can vary from 4 to 8 to 12 weeks in length.
Staff Members in Recovery
Some members of our staff are in recovery themselves. This means that they’ll have an intimate understanding of what it takes to recover from alcohol or drug addiction, and they’ll know what our guests are going through as they’ve been through similar struggles.
Distance from Triggers
There may be circumstances or people who enable or encourage drug misuse. By being in our centre in Thailand and far away from them, a person can focus wholly on their recovery.
Various Activities
Therapies in Thai Addiction Rehab

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a cornerstone of the treatment process. With one-on-one sessions, a person is put in a safe space wherein they can delve into the root cause of their addiction and explore their feelings. These sessions can also be where a person develops healthy coping skills to manage their cravings.

Group Therapy
Group therapy is another important part of addiction recovery. In group therapy, a person can find a supportive community. These sessions also help our guests develop and practice their coping skills, making them vital in preventing relapse when they return home.

Family Therapy
Family therapy can be necessary in rehab. After a person's stay, their families will either come to Chiang Mai or participate via online video conferencing tools.
Modalities Used

CBT
CBT, or cognitive behavioural therapy, is a widely-used modality that can help a person address cognitive distortions such as negative beliefs or thought patterns that can lead to taking prescription drugs in an unhealthy way.

DBT
DBT, or dialectical behaviour therapy, was originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder. It can be used to help people deal with strong emotions without resorting to behaviours such as prescription medication abuse.

MI
Motivational interviewing, or MI, is a form of therapy wherein a therapist uses a conversation to help people find and develop the intrinsic motivation to change their behaviour regarding illicit drug use.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a form of therapy wherein a therapist uses bilateral stimulation on the patient while putting a traumatic memory at the forefront of their mind. By doing so, a patient can process the traumatic memory, and its emotional impact is blunted.

Trauma Therapy
Trauma-release exercises are exercises that help the body release deep muscular patterns of tension, trauma, and stress. They can help many people with trauma-related conditions.
